Did you know that before 1990 women and minorities were not routinely involved in medical research? However, we know that our biological sex makes a difference in the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, especially in heart disease, lung cancer, stroke, and autoimmune disease. Since 1990, the Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) has worked to make sure women and minorities are included in medical research and clinical trials and pushed for increased funding for sex differences research.
